NOTHING LIKE IT IN THE WORLD The Men Who Built the Transcontinental Railroad 1863-1869

by | Read by Jeffrey DeMunn

History • 6.5 hrs. • Abridged • © 2000

Ambrose's history of building the transcontinental railroad is well served by Jeffrey DeMunn. His voice complements the readable story, never allowing the listener to feel bogged down in details. He takes small opportunities to vary the pace or tone, as when he reads a piece of correspondence or personal recollection. While there are surely many pages missing from the full account, the abridgment is smooth and Ambrose's history substantially instact. DeMunn make the listening a pleasure.
