At the end of Kane’s earlier mystery, TWISTED, FBI agent Sloan Burbank was recovering from an injury and was hoping to get back to the Bureau and her former partner, Derek. In this follow-up, her father informs Sloan that her mother has been savagely beaten in the midst of a burglary of their Manhattan apartment. As the investigation begins, listeners suspect that the burglary is related to a murder Sloan's father witnessed many years earlier. Joyce Bean is skilled at portraying both genders, and her Asian accents are unimpeachable. Her voice is crisp and clear, and her pacing is near perfect. She tears through the story at a commendable but pleasant speed and is especially adept at the many amorous scenes between Sloan and Derek.
