Before the time of Columbus, an adventurer sets out from the lavish court of Portugal seeking a lost island. His voyage and its consequences offer a fine tale of classic time-travel. Irving's tale is similar to his "Rip Van Winkle" and the program offers a way to become reacquainted with this American author. Lloyd Battista does a great job bringing the story to life, but the original score by Brad Hill leaves the most lasting impression. After the narration ends, the music continues adding to and extending the trance of time-travel and the mood of the setting.
