THE SCOURGE OF THE DINNER LADIES

Elementary school heroes take on the Granny Fang Gang who, disguised as dinner ladies, abduct one of the children's classmates. The diverse characters and zany plot provide plenty of fodder for a talented and versatile narrator. Mulville's characterizations are vital, memorable and hilariously funny. Fully exploiting the array of regional accents and social registers, he captures the spirit of slapstick farce crafted by the author. The novel is rich in discourse, and sound effects and, placed in such capable hands, makes for a first-class audio experience. B.M.W.
