In the year 2069 a new and deadly virus has infected most of the earth's population, and healthy blood has become the valued currency. In the struggle for control of the blood supply, Dallas's wife and child are murdered, leaving him determined to exact revenge. This is an interesting speculation of the future merging of biology and computers. Geoffrey Howard gives a consistently good performance, providing each character with a distinctive voice. Though British, he is very successful reading the American voices. His clarity makes the complex and technical passages dealing with technology and blood chemistry easy to follow, though at times he moves along a bit too quickly. He manages to read with feeling without being overly dramatic. For those not interested in scientific detail, an abridgment might work better.
