Selected Shorts is an outstanding selection of short fictional pieces recorded live at Symphony Space in New York City and broadcast on public radio stations nationwide. The material is drawn from a wide cultural cross section and is brought vividly to life by first-rate actors such as William Hurt, Anne Pitoniak, Roscoe Lee Brown and Jerry Stiller. Each story fires the imagination, and collectively, these actors' voices weave a rich tapestry of differing times and circumstances. It's a particular pleasure to share the listening experience with the audience at the time of the taping. There is a rich communality in the laughter which punctuates the stories throughout and in the explosion of applause which greets the conclusion of many of these tales.
