SKUNK WORKS

by | Read by Arthur Addison

Contemporary Culture • 13.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1994

Ben Rich reflects on his life at the Skunk Works, a super-secret Lockheed business unit that specialized in developing and building the world’s most advanced military and spy aircraft. This first-person narrative covers Rich’s career from engineer to CEO and highlights work on the U-2, SR-71 Blackbird, and the F-117 Stealth Fighter. Arthur Addison does a credible job with this facinating material but works a bit too hard trying to present vocal differences among the many cameo segments that add color and dimension to the story. Nonetheless, this now declassified slice of American aeronautical history is first rate from beginning to end. T.J.M. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 97]
