THE STATIONARY ARK

by | Read by Nigel Davenport

Humor • 5.3 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1976

This is the story of the building of the Jersey zoo, a lifelong ambition of British naturalist, Gerald Durrell. Like many of his previous books, this one is narrated by actor Nigel Davenport. Davenport is Durrell by now, and we would probably be disappointed to hear the author's real voice. The production values are excellent, and the content interesting to all who like animal stories. This makes an ideal purchase for libraries with James Herriot fans. The packaging is attractive, the narration appealing and the story charming. One criticism is the way the author shamelessly solicits funds for his zoo--understandable given Durrell's zeal about his zoo. E.F. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: MAR 93]
