Thorne's presentation is almost understated as he relates anecdotes about government, church, the military and ordinary people's lives. It's fun to learn the little pieces of history that we seem to gain by osmosis through Thorne's appealing and easy-to-listen-to voice, which never becomes tiresome or boring.
