THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU

Before there was the movie, there was the Philip K. Dick short story. Narrator Phil Gigante is terrific in various roles, including that of the hapless hero, Ed Fletcher. It seems there is a whole network out there that carefully plans our lives and keeps the world running smoothly—until a canine agent fails to wake Fletcher up one morning, setting off a bizarre chain of events. Gigante does a great job imitating a talking dog. The original story is quite different from the film and works as a prequel. Those who enjoyed the movie will love the novella.
