This interview with the bestselling novelist and "new journalist" (THE RIGHT STUFF, BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES) took place at the Smithsonian. The opening is marred by static (probably from the mike rubbing against Wolfe's silk tie), which soon fades away so that we may enjoy the charm of this celebrity author. We receive few insights; no probing questions come from Wolfe's interlocutor. The 75 minutes pass genially and quickly, making one wish for more.
