ULTIMATE PRIZES

The ultimate prizes are a perfect wife, perfect children and success as archdeacon in the Church of England. Neville Aysgarth believes in these and in the promise of a great future, but life gets in his way and forces him to reassess his beliefs and goals. Charles Kay deals very well with the aristocratic British voices in this novel. The accents are fine; his gender differences clear; the rhythm of descriptive passages pleasant.
