This short story is a pastiche of all the unmemorable Westerns one has ever seen. The dramatization is formulaic, workmanlike but undistiguished. One could easily mistake it for a radio drama of the ‘50’s. The script leans heavily on the narrator to provide information about setting and ambiance, which in a more painstaking work is provided by dialogue and sound effects. The performers sound like competent professionals working under pressure to get out a product quickly. J.N. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: MAR 93]
