WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A LIBERTARIAN

Murray, a social scientist best known for his criticism of the federal welfare program in "Losing Ground" and his look at IQ and class in THE BELL CURVE, presents, explains and defends libertarian principles. The view is one of a truly minimal government that provides only a few public goods, such as roads and defense. It then paints with broad brush strokes a libertarian society's construct of race relations, the environment and education. It's well written and clearly organized and argued. Reading like a social scientist, not an actor, Murray slowly, carefully and adequately presents the text with appropriate pauses and emphasis.
