The ninth volume of pulp crime stories from the legendary BLACK MASK magazine doesn’t pull any punches. These six stories showcase some surprisingly compelling writing by work-a-day writers, most of whom never achieved wide recognition. In this audio collection each of the stories gets its own narrator, and each one is stylistically on the mark, evoking the rough-and tumble thirties and forties with picturesque, streetwise, and world-weary voices. The banner piece is an early Raymond Chandler story featuring Carmady, a private eye who was the template for Philip Marlowe.
