Victoria Bradshaw drops her dull life in London to resume a relationship with playwright Oliver Dobbs, who reappears on her doorstep after five years. In the meantime, Oliver has produced several successful plays and a two-year-old son. The trio sets off for a holiday at a remote Scottish castle. Donada Peters' narration is crisp, moving quickly and surely through descriptive passages which recall the romantic storytelling tradition of the Brontë sisters and Daphne du Maurier. Peters is consistent in her character rendering of the many characters and brings even minor characters to life. Pilcher by Peters makes for fine, entertaining listening.
