THE DOMINO LADY All's Fair in War

by | Read by a Full Cast

Audio Theater • 30 min. • Unabridged • © 2012

This short original audio adventure is modeled after those of the Golden Age of radio thrillers and pulp magazines in the 1930s. Basically, reporter Ellen Patrick puts on a tiny domino mask and fights crime in San Diego. Apparently, the thin disguise is enough to fool everyone, including her boyfriend. Yes, the audiobook requests that logic be left behind. The story, performed by a full cast, including Karen Stillwell and Peter Carini, is hampered by frequent lapses into echo, which is supposed to give the impression of a large room but only serves to make the dialogue difficult to understand. While everyone sounds breathless and sarcastic, a jazzy/bluesy soundtrack usually fits the action. The plot is minimal, full of holes but pleasant enough.
