SUSPECT

Earphones Award Winner

by | Read by MacLeod Andrews

Mystery & Suspense • 8.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2013

There's no doubt that this is one of Crais's best. Teamed with MacLeod Andrews’s narration, it will bring tears to listeners’ eyes. It's the story of a German Shepherd named Maggie, a former military dog who was wounded in Afghanistan at the same time that her handler was killed by an IED. Maggie is then teamed up with Scott James, an LAPD officer who is also shot in an ambush in which his partner, Stephanie, is killed. The story of the loyalty and trust that bonds the two as they search for Stephanie's killers is told mainly through Maggie's eyes. Andrews's sensitive reading makes you want to finish the book in one listen. His accents are great, and his pacing is deliberate. Do dogs dream and have feelings? Crais believes they do. A.L.H.
