A musical introduction played on a toy piano sets the tone for these three children's stories about flags, big noises, and creativity. Narrator Bill Russell is especially articulate, slowing his pace when explaining flag terminology in the story about Elizabeth, who decides to take over flag duties in her father's absence. Russell's modulated tones capture Elizabeth's mortification when she flies the flag upside down. Russell also provides lively impressions of a noisy lawn mower and a blender in the second story--though his tones hit an all-time high as Rosie, whose vociferous complaint about the big noises is a little ear piercing. Finally, an unrushed pacing captures Jenny's creative problem solving in using her stickers to make new shoes. M.F. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: APRIL 2013]
