REDCOATS AND REBELS The American Revolution Through British Eyes

by | Read by David Case

History • 15 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1990

It is said that the victors write the history books, but in this instance Hibbert describes the American Revolution as the British and American Loyalists saw it. There are a few surprises here, the biggest of which may be the large number of American Loyalists, for the revolution was in many ways a "civil war." Still the feats of the Patriots and their foes are just as amazing. David Case's reading ably conveys this spellbinding account to the listener. His voice has an air of authority and confidence that is especially strong when reading the narrative sections and the British accounts. His renditions of American accents, although adequate, are not up to the same level. However, this does not detract from an overall fine performance of a fascinating story.
