SKINNER'S FESTIVAL

Quintin Jardine's fascinating and sometimes unsettling mystery, which takes place at the Edinburgh Festival of the Arts, is enhanced by James Bryce's lush Scottish accent. The weather is gorgeous, attendance is growing, and the artistic offerings are impressive--until a bomb goes off, killing a young man. Bryce presents an emotional range that matches everyone's escalating fear. Assistant Chief Constable Bob Skinner is a strong personality whose love for his family and job and loathing of those who are out to destroy his precious city are clearly apparent as he races the clock to outwit the bomber.
