THE ADVENTURES OF KING MIDAS

by | Read by Lynne Reid Banks

Children • 3 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1976

The Greek myth of King Midas is extended into a fantasy adventure as the remorseful king must do battle with Witch Wuzzleflump, who has blocked the River Cijam, the source of the waters that will wash away the curse of the Golden Touch. Popular British author Lynne Reid Banks, who trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, gives a sterling performance. She creates delightful voices for the characters and gives a carefully paced reading, which makes the most of the witty dialogue and descriptive details of her novel. If you believe that classic mythology shouldn't be tampered with, then pass this fantasy by. However, if you feel that King Midas should have a second chance (he's dreadfully sorry), you'll enjoy this fanciful tale. C.R.A. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JAN 96]
