THE THREE-CORNERED HALO

Derek Perkins’s strong performance entertains listeners with this amazing story of a young woman on San Juan el Pirata who resolved, as God’s will, to live the rest of her life on a tabletop. Juanita’s strange obsession was not appreciated by the islanders, and, aside from devoted nuns, her death was viewed as a positive event by all. Perkins portrays all the characters in this story with superb accuracy, distinguishing their identities with flair. With colorful detail, he recounts how two decades later the very same islanders who were repelled by Juanita demand that she be canonized to bring tourism and prosperity to their island. The island’s archduke is not in favor of that plan, and he may underestimate his constituents—who will stop at nothing to effect change.
