THE GRINGO AMIGO

by | Read by Gene Engene

Western • 6.6 hrs. • Unabridged • ©

Gene Engene has his accents down pat in this tale about an Irish immigrant saved by a Mexican outlaw in the California goldfields. While he has a tendency to pause in mid-sentence without reason, adding his own punctuation to phrasing, Engene clearly has an ability to bring characters to life, and to keep them distinct and separate while making their motivations clear. His voice is rich, and his laughter believable, making for a versatile interpretation of the challenging characters. While the plot of this book is uneven, the listener's interest is maintained through Engene's attention to detail. J.L. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/ NOV 01]
