Katie, the narrator of this charming novel, is 13. Jen Taylor, the performer of this irresistible audiobook, does not act that age as much as she becomes that age. With an innocent twang to her voice and a flawless grasp of comic timing, Taylor brings Katie to life and makes the listener eager to hear more about the young narrator's view of the world. Katie is trying to adjust to a new place with only an emotionally distant father at home and less-than-ideal new friends. She finds her "Joy School" in the innocent companionship of an older man.
