PERSUASION

Young Anne Elliot allowed herself to be persuaded to give up the love of her life, young naval officer Frederick Wentworth. But she never got over him. Nearly ten years later, circumstances bring them back together, and each must decide whether their abiding love is worth the risk of further heartbreak. Donada Peters penetrates the author's formal style to bring out the warmth of the story. Her characters glow with passion, although their personal vocal characterizations are performed quite simply. Rather, Peters's appreciation for the content of their words, and the feelings behind them, enhances the personalities of the widely varied people of the story.
