THE ADVENTURES OF BERTIE AND JEEVES Jeeves Takes Charge, Fixing It for Freddy, The Metropolitan Touch, The Ordeal of Young Tuppie

by | Read by Charlton Griffin

Audio Theater • 3 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1916

The four short stories in this collection were well chosen as an introduction to the humor of P.G. Wodehouse and his characters, wealthy lightweight Bertie Wooster and his omniscient butler, Jeeves. Among the stories is "Jeeves Takes Charge," the story of Wooster's first encounter with his butler. Charlton Griffin gives Wooster, who tells these stories in the first person, a jaded, world-weary attitude that suggests more self-consciousness than I associate with the character. Even so, his narration provides chuckles and a few belly laughs. The mood is set with excerpts of jazz age melodies to introduce stories and punctuate changes of scene. J.A.S.
