THE RULES FOR MARRIAGE Time-tested Secrets for Making Your Marriage Work

by | Read by Ellen Fein, Sherrie Schneider

Personal Growth • 3 hrs. • Abridged • © 2001

The authors are famous, or notorious to some, for writing "The Rules," which taught women how to please, impress and generally manipulate the man they want to snag for a husband. In their latest book for married women, the advice continues in the same vein: women should defer to their man and expect very little of him. Though being nice and mincing words to spare feelings is always appreciated, the focus on women making all the adjustments seems outdated, at least if you believe men have a brain and the capacity to grow in their marriages. These ideas may be popular in some circles, but they fall short of reasonableness if you view marriage as a dynamic and mutual journey. T.W.
