Alistaire Horne's style of history featuring descriptive power, lots of research, and rich vocabulary adapts well to audio. Embracing his historical muse, he focuses attention on the long-standing Franco-German rivalry and the fall of France during WWII. Having no timidity with any foreign language, reader Bill Kelsey excels when narrating an international jewel like this. He enlivens the text and has a clever way of giving his reading the emotion being described.
