Robin Meredith has lost his wife of more than twenty years, and both he and his adult daughter, Judy, are dealing with their grief. Judy's roommate, Zoë, comes with her to the farm from their flat in London, and, amid further shocks to the family and the farm business, Zoë and Robin recognize their attraction. Lynn Redgrave's experience shows as she superbly captures the accents of region, age, gender, and class, and fully captures the emotions of a family in turmoil.
