THE CASE OF THE DIRTY BIRD & DUNC'S DOLL, VOL 1

Gary Paulsen's popular adventures of Duncan Culpepper and his friend, Amos Binder, make a tidy program for audio. Two complete stories are produced in each set. Dunc and Amos manage to get into the usual predicaments appealing to six to ten-year-olds. Narrator Bill Fantini presents a restrained reading, a good choice as the antics the boys are up to could easily overwhelm the narration. The boys' voices are slightly whiny, but the reading is clear, and Fantini's use of pause and emphasis is excellent. The short format makes these a good introduction to audio for Culpepper fans.
