1.  What is the term of my listing?

One year. We send renewal notices prior to expiration so you’ll have plenty of time to renew.

2.  When does my listing term begin?

It starts the first day of the month after you submit the listing form.

3.  How much is an Expanded Listing?

It is $160. Contact the Guide manager, Kara Nappi, to check for any promotions or quantity discounts. Pay here.

4.  What should I put in my 50 words of text?

Some narrators put a description of their experience and skills. Quotes by reviewers or former employers are sometimes used. We suggest you look at some of the other listings to get an idea what may work for you. Narrator Quick Search

5.  Does it have to be exactly 50 words?

You can go a few words over, but if your text is too long, it will be edited. You may submit your own revision anytime to the guide manager.

6.  Which dialects should I mark?

We strongly advise you to mark the dialects that you can perform well. Producers are looking for narrators who can perform the accents at time of casting.

7.  What if I don’t have my own recording studio but I have one nearby?

The 50 words of text is the best place to note that you have access to a local studio.

8.  How do I note awards or nominations not on the Expanded Listing form?

If you received an award that is not on the Expanded Listing form, the best place to put the information is in the 50 words of text. You may do the same for any nominations you received.

9.  What if I don’t have any audiobooks reviewed by AudioFile?

You may list any audiobook titles you have narrated that have been published by a commercial publisher.

10.  What if I have an audiobook review, but I don’t like it? Do I have to link to it?

You may request to have the title listed without it being linked to the review. Be sure to note in your email if a title should not be linked when submitting your list.

11.  May I update my listing?

You may update any part of your listing at any time: add new dialects, update sound clips, link to new audiobook reviews, update your text. Just email the guide manager for instructions. We do ask that the updates are not too frequent.

12.  My sound clip is too long. How do I shorten it?

We do allow for sound clips to run a few seconds long so that a word or a sentence is completed. Sound clips that are significantly longer will need to be edited. There are some programs available that you may use to shorten your sound clips (such as Audacity, free as of 4/1/08) that are fairly easy to use. If you are not comfortable editing the sound clips, our guide manager, Kara Nappi, will edit them for you.

13.  May I put more than one sample of my voice on the two-minute sound clip?

You may put anything on each two-minute clip. It can be one continuous clip or it can be several different clips in sequence. Just be sure the file is limited to two minutes. Remember, we post only three sound files.

14.  What if my sound clips won’t be available for several weeks or months?

You may supply your media anytime during the term of your listing.

15.  Can I use the image and the sound clips from my narrator profile or reviews?

Certainly. Email your instructions to the guide manager.

16.  How much experience do I need to be listed in the Guide?

We recommend that you have some experience narrating audiobooks, as the professionals searching the Guide for talent are looking for experienced and skilled narrators.

17.  Who can view my listing?

Anyone. Passwords are not required to search the Audiobook Reference Guide—it is available to the general public. The listing information is included in Web searches.

18.  Is there an alternative to the expanded listing?

There is a Basic Listing that is free. It provides only your contact information. This listing will not show in results of searches for dialect or other skills and awards. For more information, email the guide manager.
