DISTANT SHORES

Elizabeth and Jackson Shore are a loving couple of 24 years with two children in college. When Jackson, a former football player turned TV personality, finds a new job in New York City, Elizabeth balks at the idea and wants to stay in Oregon, especially after her father's sudden death. Bernadette Quigley tells this story of finding oneself in a high, tense voice that conveys the stress in the Shores' marriage and self-identities. Quigley's portrayal of the Shore daughters is wonderful, especially when they are petulant. Kristin Hannah helps the story along with shared secrets and scenes of self-renewal, while the Shores rediscover the love in their lives, together and apart. M.B.K.
