A LITTLE YELLOW DOG

by | Read by Howard Weinberger

Mystery & Suspense • 9 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1996

Well over half of A LITTLE YELLOW DOG is dialogue, and Howard Weinberger handles the patter of conversation smoothly and efficiently so that the reader is always clear on who is speaking and to whom. Although the centerpiece of the novel is Sojourner Truth Junior High School, where Easy Rawlins is the supervising custodian, the novel sprawls about in the nooks and crannies of the City of Angels: in Watts, in the underworld of the city, at faculty drug parties, in the homes of twin murdered brothers, and in the offices of various high-level school administrators addicted to women of the night. Everything about Mosely's work is fluid, and Weinberger's tough, husky voice, touched with a smoky edge, fits the ebb and flow of the dialogue. M.D.H.
