JEWISH HOLIDAY STORIES Featuring Chanukah, Purim, and Passover

Jim Weiss's warm voice and moderate pace make these simple retellings of three traditional Jewish holidays--Chanukah, Purim, and Passover--a perfect introduction to the holidays for children. As he tells the stories, Weiss emphasizes every third or fourth word, a technique that serves to keep the youngest listeners involved, yet it doesn't produce a singsong effect, so adults will enjoy listening as much as the little ones. Snatches of evocative holiday songs to link the stories would have been a wonderful addition to this production. But even without music, this presentation is excellent.
