ANGELBOUND Angelbound Origins, Book 1

In a parallel universe, an 18-year-old quasi-demon named Myla is trying to make sense of her world. Narrator Christina Bauer portrays her as a feisty, sarcastic young woman who wants to meet the world on her own terms. But she loses a bit of her spunkiness when she deals with her best friend, whom Bauer depicts with a somewhat inconsistent "Valley girl" delivery and attitude. Bauer's narration reflects the structure of the parallel society, its power dynamics, and the relative status of its angels, half angel-half humans, and array of demons and other "quasis."
