ACCIDENTAL PLAYBOY

In the late 1990s, self-professed "nice guy" Leif Ueland set out on a six-month mission as a journalist for PLAYBOY magazine aboard a high-tech bus to find the Millennium 2000 Playmate. As Ueland reads his own memoir of his life on the road with PLAYBOY, the juxtaposition of innocence and arousal is striking. The author (code-named "Fearless" aboard the bus) shares his inner tensions as a shy, sexually insecure young man, the product of a politically correct culture with feminist tendencies, put in a position in which hundreds of attractive young women want to "get naked" for him. Ueland's own speaking style--untrained as it is in the tonal and timing skills of a professional reader--captures perfectly the innocent tension of his story. S.E.S.
