RESCUING DAD

When Joe's mother kicks Joe's father out of the house, Joe and his sister, Claire, take action. They decide to transform their father's many bad habits to make him irresistible to their mother. Narrator Steven Pacey captures Joe's panic, resentment, and hope as his plans become ever more desperate. Pacey does an equally fine job capturing the voices of the people who inhabit Joe's world. He creates particularly noteworthy voices for preadolescent Claire and Roger, the creepy man who takes more than a passing interest in Joe's mother. This production conveys all the confusion and fear children facing divorce feel, as well as the hilarity of the situations Joe and Claire create. A.F.
