Jennifer Vuletic narrates this multigenerational story of immigrants who made Australia their new home in the aftermath of WWII. Sixteenyearold Hungarian Elizabeta, Greek Vasiliki, and Italian Iliana, along with their families, arrive at the Bonegilla Migrant Camp in rural Australia in 1954, where they meet the camp director's daughter, Frances. Vuletic's soft voice is full of musical notes that shift effortlessly from broad Australian to melodic Greek and Italian accents and harsh German and Hungarian consonants. Emulating the emotions of these women, Vuletic's voice rises and falls, bringing laughter and tears and sharing the stress of fitting in and building lives.
