Thérèse Plummer deftly narrates this continuation of Scott Westerfeld's Uglies series. The story focuses on Frey, the secret twin who was born minutes too late to be royalty. Instead of language lessons and fancy parties, she is a body double used for target practice to protect her sister. Frey's life is upside down. She dispatches every mortal threat without thinking, but when she is asked to enter the real world and talk to regular people, things fall apart. Plummer takes listeners along for the ride as Frey's life swings from panic to wonder during her first solo adventure in the world.
