Thomas of Hookton, master archer during the Hundred Years War, embarks on a quest for the Holy Grail, which is supposedly in Gascony in his family's ancestral castle of Astarac. While on his quest, he meets Genevieve, who is accused of heresy and sentenced to be burned at the stake. Thomas must fight his numerous enemies, including the Church, in his quest for truth and honor, and Genevieve becomes part of his merry band. Tim Pigott-Smith performs this bloody tale of war and deception with captivating accents and entrancing narration, never forgetting the nation or rank of the speaker.
