HOME TO HARMONY

Harmony is a small town that might remind listeners of Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon. Listeners will soon realize that the stories in this collection of small-town anecdotes often have morals to them. Philip Gulley, a Quaker minister, speaks through fictional minister Sam Gardner, who is good-natured but has a sneaky streak. It's usually to avoid confrontations, but he puts it to other uses, such as planning an anniversary surprise for his wife. Gulley's an entertaining reader, whose hoarse preacher's voice hints of wisdom beyond his years.
