CLEMENCY POGUE Fairy Killer

by | Read by L.J. Ganser

Children Ages 6+ • 2.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2005

Clemency Pogue didn't really mean to kill seven fairies, but the mean-spirited fairy attacking her left her no choice. Now she must travel with Chafes-Me-So, a friendly but mischievous hobgoblin, to remedy all the problems she caused when seven times she uttered the death sentence: "I don't believe in fairies." As children's stories go, onomatopoetic phrases abound, and L.J. Ganser meets these aural challenges skillfully. Any listener easily recognizes what sound the narrator is imitating. His lighthearted delivery strengthens the deadpan humor, zany analogies, and metaphors. Though his rendition of Clemency doesn't fully embolden the girl in tone and character, his other characterizations prove his creativity.
