This is new old-time radio, featuring six of the adventures of Harry Nile, the kinder, gentler private eye of Seattle radio. Harry's not in the money; he has too much integrity and two few brains for that. In these cases, set in the '50s, when the shamus is pushing a rough-hewn middle age, he doesn't make wisecracks or shoot it out with villains. He just plods on with his girl Friday, Murphy, and the cases somehow get solved. The production values are strictly 1949, the acting and writing creditable. Harry and Murphy investigate phony televangelists, gun-toting prowlers, homicidal derelicts, and robber barons with a simple-minded but ingratiating working-class charm.
