As an East German who lived under both Nazi and Communist rule before escaping to West Germany, Win Straube has had a fascinating life. Straube shares his story with the skilled voice of a professional speaker, yet he makes it a personal account, for the most part. His descriptions of his early life and his efforts to rebuild his career after fleeing the Communists are fascinating. However, as he gets into the workings of business deals and ruminates about his personal philosophies of life and views, Straube's book loses much of its power.
