TALK TALK

Earphones Award Winner

by | Read by T.C. Boyle

Fiction • 11.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2006

This is an irresistibly enjoyable reading by T.C. Boyle of his novel. The book presents the mistaken arrest of a hearing-impaired woman and her boyfriend’s subsequent pursuit of the real criminal, who stole her identity. Though an accomplished writer, Boyle reveals in his voice the sort of eagerness you often hear when a young creative writing student performs his work for the rest of the class. The desire to have his listeners approve of his work and to enjoy themselves animates and freshens this entire reading. Boyle’s fast pace matches the frantic chase narrative, and he delivers his lushly orchestrated sentences with casual finesse. It’s a wonderful audio experience. G.H.
