FIERCE PEOPLE

by | Read by Scott Shina

Fiction • 13.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2002

Finn, the teenaged son of Liz, a massage therapist, drug addict, and single mother, narrates this coming-of-age story of their life in New York City and his fixation with the Yanomamo, the fierce people of South America, and, of course, sex. After Finn is arrested for buying drugs for his mother, Liz takes them both to Vlyvalle, New Jersey, to live with her billionaire client, Osborne, in an ultra-rich community. Scott Shina ably portrays a teenaged boy who learns about sex first by listening to his mother's liaisons, and then with the women in Vlyvalle. Shina focuses his narration on the teenager, his intonation barely varying for the other characters and lulling the listener into boredom.
