Narrator Charles Constant is an excellent guide through this science work--clear, warm, and conversational. Rob Dunn delves into the multiple ways that two species can benefit each other, offering myriad examples of collaboration both large and microscopic. Constant seems as fascinated by the breadth of biological diversity as the author is. The mutualisms discussed range from the relationship between microbes that live in the guts of termites to multiple human mutualisms. For example, orcas and Australian Aborigines mutually hunted baleen whales, and honeyguide birds lead humans to beehives so they can share in the spoils. The audiobook is a call to action, too--a plea for humans to pay attention and understand that cooperation is critical to survival. A.B. © AudioFile 2025, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2025]
