BIGGIE AND THE MEDDLESOME MAILMAN

In this folksy mystery, Luther Abernathy, a snoopy mailman who thinks nothing of opening everybody's mail and spreading gossip all over town, is murdered. Series sleuth Biggie Weatherford and her 12-year-old grandson, J.R., track the culprit with the help of Willie Mae, cook and voodoo priestess, and her husband, Rosebud, a handyman. Bell's ear for quirky Texas dialogue and zingy one-liners is fodder for narrator Jeff Woodman. His voice rings true for every character he portrays, and he effortlessly moves from one to another. Woodman's talent is especially highlighted in the mischievous J.R. Nancy Bell has never been better, and Woodman is a talented accomplice. This is a barrel of laughs and good gumshoeing.
