Reverend Thomas offers a well-meaning book but one with a disingenuous, albeit tongue-in-cheek, title. Clearly adept at public speaking, being both a pastor and a lawyer, he aims for an inclusive message but limits his audience with a Southern drawl that harbors a mocking tone. The effect is one of preaching to the choir, an effect made more evident by his dismissal of any challenge to what he deduces are the top 10 questions Christian laity need firm answers to. From the beginning, Thomas admits to an intentionally liberal bent, so it’s not surprising that his views on specific tenets of the faith fall outside the norm.
